CAPF: Report: Domestic Violence Against Women in India
Report: Domestic Violence Against Women in India
Date: xx/xx/xxxx
Place: xyz
The term “Domestic Violence”, means, violence is towards someone
with whom we are in relation with. Here anyone can be the victim or victimizer;
brother, sister, son, daughter, wife, father, and mother etc. In Indian, the
society is crippled with violence against female, be it on the name of dowry or
in form of marital rape or acid attacks, beating, female fetuses etc.
In order the prevent violence, the govt has enacted “The
Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005”, where aggrieved can file
complain with protection officer, police officer or magistrate if her
right to life is violated by act of husband or relatives. Such a complain
should be considered prima facie evidence of offence, for further
investigation.
Even in presence of law, the 2012 report of
National Crime Records Bureau, shows tantalizing figure, in which a crime
against women is recorded in every 3 minutes in India. Every, 30 minute, a
woman is raped in the country, and Every 6 hours, a married woman is found
beaten to death, burnt or driven to suicide. These are the reported figures;
the actual unreported figures must be very high. Thus, there is a need
for stricter laws, awareness among women of their rights and awareness among
people to treat women as equals.
